A Georgian officer has been killed in Afghanistan during the incident, officials of the Ministry of Defence said.
They did not specify under what circumstances Officer Mamuka Shukvani was killed and Corporal Alika Gitolendiya lost two legs.
"We lost a true warrior and we offer our condolences to his family, his friends and to our country, which has lost so brilliant officer", officials from the Ministry of Defence of Georgia said.
They stressed that the body of the deceased officer would be delivered home soon and transferred to his relatives. Also the state would cooperate fully with the treatment and rehabilitation of wounded Corporal. The Georgian military contingent consists of 975 people and has been serving in Afghanistan from April 1.
It is divided into two parts. One of them included 175 people is subordinated to the French military contingent, and the second - 720 people is in the area of responsibility of the United States. It's the first Georgian soldier killed in Afghanistan since April.
