19 November 2010 [15:25] - Today.Az
Robert Simmons will end his activity as NATO Special Envoy in Central Asia and Caucasus by early December, NATO press office said.
Simmons will be replaced in this post, which he has held for the past seven years, by the current Spokesman for NATO, James Appathurai. The decision was taken in early November and approved by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
"This is the periodic replacement of senior political representatives of NATO, after a certain period of time," NATO press office said.
It is still unknown when Appathurai will pay his first visit in his new post to the South Caucasus region.
The Georgian media outlets reported earlier the NATO special envoy will be woman, Oana Lungescu.
