Blood donation action is being held in Teze Pir, Ejderbey, Juma mosques and Mirmovsum aga, Gadamgah pilgrimages, as well as in Blood Bank and other towns and regions of the republic on the day of Ashura.

The actions are organized on the initiative of Caucasian Muslims Office to help those who suffer from thalassemia and hemophilia.

The representative of the Blood Bank in Ejderbay mosque Leyla Maharramova told the APA that the blood taken from the people is certificated after being analyzed. She said that a lot of people want to donate blood.

"A lot of people stand in a queue to donate blood. It is very good," she said.

Maharramova said the blood will be given to about 650 thalassemia patients.

Caucasian Muslims Office chief Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh also donated blood in Ejderbey mosque today. He appreciated this action as humanism.

"It is very important. These actions should continue," he said.

Caucasian Muslims Office chief said that these actions are organized along with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation every Friday.

Blood donation actions will continue till the evening.
