Department editor of Mukhalifet (opposition) newspaper Yashar Agazede kept in Bayil detention place #1 started hunger strike.
Lawyer for Agazade, director of Media Law Institute Rashad Hajili told the APA that the journalist protests to pressure on freedom of speech and illegal arrest of journalists. The lawyer said he today met with editor-in-chief of Mukhalifet newspaper Rovshen Kebirli. The journalist demanded meeting with ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova. Yasamal district court sentenced Yashar Agazade and editor-in-chief of Mukhalifet newspaper Rovshen Kebirli to 2 and half years in jail on suit of academician, parliamentarian Jalal Aliyev on May 16, 2007.
