Bird flu threat in Azerbaijan has already been over. Monitoring of H5N1 virus in the country will be over this month.

The next monitoring will be held on September 2007 and it is connected with mass migration of birds, Emin Shahbazov, Deputy Chairman of State Veterinary Service (SVS) at Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry told.

He said that surveillance show that virus was not discovered in the country yet. But despite of it, the measures against virus are going on in the country.

Shahbazov said that ban on fowling has not suspended yet stated that import and export of poultry products continues. Azerbaijan is importing poultry products from US, Turkey and Brazil at present.

Shahbazov touching on mass fish deaths in Hovsan said that the samples are being examined in the laboratory of State Veterinary Service, APA reports.

The Deputy chief also said that the number of the countries wanting to import meat from our country will increase after Azerbaijan becomes the member of the World Trade Organization.
