USAID held a meeting with reporters in Lenkoran in the framework of the program "Protection of media and development of alternative media".
As is reported, the meeting was attended by USAID director on Azerbaijan Kerri Josby and program coordinator Rashad Melikov.
The reporters were informed that the USAID program is intended to prepare reporters for resistance to accusations of "defamation". In this sense there is a plan to arrange a trip of 10 reporters from Baku, Lenkoran and Guba to the United States.
The reporters from Azerbaijan will stay in the United States from May 28 until June 18 to get acquainted with the ways of solution of defamation problems by US officials. Gradually, during the visit the reporters will familiarize with the US legislative acts, regulating the said problem.
Those, willing to participate in the program, should appeal to the USAID office until February 29. The organization will select 10 participants on the contest basis.
