A request on execution of a decision, passed by the British court, regarding British citizen of Great Britain Patrick O'Brian, arrested in our country, has been received by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice by diplomatic channels.
The due announcement was made by Zaver Gafarov, chief of department of international cooperation under Ministry of Justice.
He noted that as the decision of the British court and supplied documents meet the CoE Convention on Extradition of 1957, which involved Azerbaijan and Great Britain, O'Brian was detained and arrested on basis of the court decision.
The Ministry of Justice has started procedure of extradition of the British citizen.

Officers of the head department of criminal investigation under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs along with the Sabail police department carried out a successful operation and detained a pedophile, who is on the international wanted list.
The due information was provided by Day.Az with reference to Yeni Musavat newspaper.
As is reported the detained is a citizen of Great Britain Patrick O'Brian, born in 1959.
Patrick O'Brian was detained in his flat, hired in Baku. He is suspected of raping five under-age children. Parents of the last child filed a claim to the police.O'Brian then escaped to Russia and later to Baku. He lived with another name for more than a year in Baku. All this time, he was wanted by international police.
It is noted that official of the press service for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs Ekhsan Zahidov confirmed the fact of detainment of the British citizen and noted that arrangements on extradition of the detained to Great Britain are now being taken.
According to the announcement, representative of the British Embassy to Azerbaijan Sevindj Mirzayeva confirmed the said fact. Azerbaijan's law-enforcement bodies arrested Patrick O'Brian by request of Great Britain", she noted.
