It was revealed during the inspections that a group of 150 volunteers of the former USSR special forces took part in attacks against Hojaly, along with 366th motorized infantry.
The due announcement was made by Faik Ismaylov, chairman of the Public Association on organization of protection of historical and cultural monuments of Azerbaijan.
He said the attack against the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly for occupation of the only airport in Nagorno Karabakh had been planned since 1989. The officers of Armenian armed forces Bagdasar Gevorkyan, Bano Siraderyan and Samwell Sharikyan held talks with officer of the 12th infantry of the Soviet army Vladimir Voronkov, who took part in the hostilities in Afghanistan in December of 1989.
The purpose of discussions was the creation of a group of volunteers from among special forces to attack Hojaly. Voronov arranged a batallion of 150 people in the first quarter of 1990.
Ivan Gusakov, deputy president of the International Armenian-Kazak association became the head of the batallion and Alik Petrosyan and Felix Geokhlyan his assistants. The commanders of the battalion beca,e Gusakov, Sumbat Akopyan and Karen Gevorkyan. The tactics and methods of actions were chosen by Vladimir Vardanov and Vazgen Sarkissyan.
It should be reminded that on the night of February 26 of 1992 Armenian aggressors captured Azerbaijan city of Khojaly. Innocent people including 613 civilians(106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly people) were brutally murdered during the attack. They were tormented, scalped and subjected to other tortures. 8 families were killed completely, 25 children lost their both parents, 130 children lost their one parent, 487 people were wounded (of them 76 children), 1275 were taken hostages and 150 people were missing.
A damage in the amount of 5,000,000,000 rubles (as of April 1, 1992) was caused to the state and the population.
