Azerbaijan is an example of tolerance in the world.
The national and moral values have become priority trends of the Azerbaijani policy, owing to Heydar Aliyev, who raised religion to a state level, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.
The due announcement was made by Ramiz Mehtiyev, head of the Presidential Administration.
"Today, Azerbaijan accounts for almost all religious confessions, which live in peace and accord and the country has never witnessed any conflicts on the religious or national basis. This is a historical victory of the Azerbaijani people", said Mehtiyev at the scientific and practical conference and presentation of the book "Heydar Aliyev and national moral values".
"Heydar Aliyev attached special importance to the unifying role of Islam. After gaining independence, special importance was attached to issues of religion and freedom of faith and today there is a legal basis for freedom of religion. This became possible owing to the far-seeing and purposeful policy of Heydar Aliyev", he said.
It should be noted that the scientific and practical conference and the presentation of the book "Heydar Aliyev and national moral values" started in Baku Tuesday. The event is organized by the head Caucasus Muslims Department.
