Parents of editor-in-chief of Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Eynulla Fatullayev, kept in correctional ward No 12, met him yesterday.
Day.Az reports with reference to the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety, that the due information was provided by Emin Fatullayev's father.
He said Fatullayev feels normal and he has no complaints about the detainment conditions and treatment by the jail administration.
Fatullayev noted that editor-in-chief has started reading books in English.
It should be noted that on January 18 of 2008 Fatullayev was transferred from the ward of the Ministry of National Security to Bailov investigation ward No1 and from there to correctional facility No 12. The Baku Appellate Court upheld the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes, passed against journalist Fatullayev.
In line with the verdict of the Court of Grave Crimes, Fatullayev was sentenced to 8.5 years of imprisonment. The editor-in-chief is charged under articles 214.1 (threat of terrorism), 283.2.2 (inciting national, racial or religious animosity by a person with abuse of powers) and 213.2.2 (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code.
