The public association of support to hostages and captives "Hasret Yolu" presented a project "Protection of rights of Azerbaijani citizens, captured during the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and later released, on the level of local legislation and international norms", said chairman of the public association of support to hostages and captives "Hasret Yolu, Esmira Orujeva,
She said the main aim of the project, approved by the Council of state support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani President, is to study problems of Azerbaijani citizens, released from Armenian captivity, informing international organizations about their problems and defense of their rights in the international courts and others.
"In the framework of the project it is planning to study the problems of citizens, released from Armenian captivity, who live in Baku, Beylagan and Sheki regions of Azerbaijan. I am the coordinator and the author of the project", said Orujeva.
She noted that the project implementation will start on August 22 and last until November 22 and noted that AZN 5,996 were allocated for the project.
"4,264 people went missing during the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Of them 3,439 are servicemen, 817 are civilians. Of them 47 are under-age (16 girls), 262 are women, 359 are elderly men", said she.
Orujeva noted that 1,359 Azerbaijani citizens were released from Armenian captivity during the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Of them 1,053 people are men, 169 are children and 289 are elderly people (112 women).
