Azerbaijani ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova visited the capital of Kenya Nairobi, reports the press service for the Ombudsman's office.

Thus, Ombudsman Suleymanov attended a series of international events, held in Nairobi and devoted to human rights.

The events involved over 150 representatives from 71 countries. The participants heard reports of regional coordinators about the work, held in different countries about the 60th anniversary of the UN general declaration of human rights.

The main issue of the conference is exchange of experience on improvement of cooperation of related establishments with the court, law enforcement bodies and correctional facilities.

M.Manning, regional coordinator on Europe and president of the Irish Institute of Human Rights, especially stressed the fruitful activity of ombudsman's office of Azerbaijan in the sphere of human rights in his report.

Speaking at the events, ombudsman Suleymanova widely informed about the situation with provision of human rights in the related spheres of our country, activity and aims of the ombudsman's office in Azerbaijan.

Ombudsman Suleymanova spoke of the provision of prisoners' rights in the country, improvement of legislation in this sphere, bringing detention conditions in line with European standards, signing 8 amnesty acts in the shortest time and 45 pardon decrees in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani ombudsman noted that Azerbaijan accounts for less than 200 prisoners per every 100,000 people.
