Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan Dmitri Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev had a telephone call, reports Day.Az with reference to the official website of the President of Russia.
The heads of the states highly appreciated the level of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, stressing existence of real prospects for their further expansion, development of new forms of interaction both in the bilateral and multilateral formats, including for neutralization of implications of the crisis events in the world economy.
Earlier Dmitri Medvedev sent Ilham Aliyev a letter of congratulation of his birthday, which says:
"The significant economic achievements of the Azerbaijan Republic, serious results of reforms in the social sphere promoted public support and trust to you. The overwhelming victory at the recent elections of the head of the state confirmed your reputation of a responsible and influential politician, a recognized leader of his people.
People in Russia know you as a friend of our country. We evaluate your personal contribution to the development of Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership, based on reliable traditions of friendship and good neighbor relations. I am confident that the stability and security in the Caucasus region and economic success depend on the effectiveness of the multi-directional cooperation between our countries".
It should be noted that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has turned 47.
