AzerTac reports with reference to the Ministry of Communication and Informational Technologies that two global orbital positions in the framework of the AzerSat project, envisioning launching of national communication satellite.

The orbital positions of Azerbaijan have earlier been envisioned for use inside the country.

Work is held with the International Telecommunication Union for purchase of global positions and memorandums were signed with several countries.

Launching the first satellite of Azerbaijan in 2010 and second in 2011 is important from the regional point of view.

These satellites will cover Eastern Europe, North Africa, CIS, Middle, Central and a part of Eastern Asia.

Thus, it will ensure access of our country to the international area. In this connection, the head of the state signed a regulation "About creation of the cosmic industry in Azerbaijan and launching telecommunication satellites".

Notably, the approximate cost of the project on launching a satellite reaches $170 mln.
