"The judicial system of Azerbaijan plays a weak role in combat with human trafficking", said US ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse at an event on the presentation of Azerbaijani network against human trafficking.
She said trafficking victims do not receive compensations in Azerbaijan.
"We are welcoming this project but this network must cooperate with organizations in the issue of provision of compensation to human trafficking victims", noted Derse.
The ambassador said that about 800,000 people are sent to different countries of the world and they further fall victims of human trafficking.
"We observe the growth in human trafficking in Azerbaijan. In order to avert this NGOs must join efforts to combat human trafficking", announced Derse.
She said about 12 mln of children and men have fallen victims of trafficking in the world.
