Yesterday founder and editor-in-chief of the Gundelik Azerbaijan and Realni Azerbaijan newspapers Eynulla Fatullayev, held in prison No 12, met with his father Emin Fatullayev, reports Day.Az with reference to the Institute for Reporter Freedom and Safety.

According to Emin Fatullayev, the campaign in protection of Eynulla Fatullayev continues in the world.

"Citizens of most countries sent hundreds of letters and postcards to my son. They are mostly sent from Canada, English, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, the United States and others. The authors of the messages thanked for the courage demonstrated by Fatullayev. Chairman of the British Council of Press Barbara Stoulden sent a letter of solidarity to him", noted Emin Fatullayev.

Notably, the Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Fatullayev to 8.5 years in prison. The editor-in-chief is charged under articles 214.1 (threat of terrorism), 283.2.2 (inciting national, racial or religious enmity with abuse of powers) and 213.2.2 (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code.

The Baku Appellate Court upheld the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes, passed against journalist Fatullayev.
