"There are no grounds to worry about the spread of pig flu (H1N1) in Mexico", said spokesman for the State Veterinary Service under the Agricultural Ministry of Yolchu Khanveli.

He said this issue is in the center of attention of the State Veterinary Service.

As for whether this virus can penetrate into our country, Khanveli noted that everything is possible but currently there are no grounds for concern.

"Azerbaijan does not import pork from Mexico, but if this virus is found in any European countries, we will stop importing this goods to our country", noted Khanveli.

Spokesman for the State Veterinary service announced that measures to prevent the spread of pig flu in Azerbaijan are not taken yet.

Notably, pig flu is an acute, febrile respiratory disease, discovered by US scientist Richard Shope in 1931. By official classification, it is of A type )the most common flu type, causing wide epidemics).

The most widely spread subtype is H1N1, while H1N2, H3N1 and H3N2 are much rare. Symptoms are high temperature and fever.
