The World Chess Championship among schoolchildren, which was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, has ended in Greek Salonika.

Day.Az reports that Zaur Mamedov from our team, playing at the age group under 15 years of age showed the best results of all. With 7 points in 9 rounds, he became the world champion.

The second medal in the team of Azerbaijan was gained by Elkhan Bayramov (U-13), who became the bronze prize winner. Among the best are also Izzet Rahimli, which took the 5th place in the competition for girls under age of 15.

The world amateur championship in which our player Asker Rzayev took 4th place with 7 points, was also held in Salonika.
