Persons attempting to counterfeit and sell ID cards were arrested in Azerbaijan, Interior Ministry’s press service told APA.

The officers of the Interior Ministry’s Department to Combat Organized Crimes arrested Baku residents – editor of Baku Cartography Factory of Azerbaijan State Land and Cartography Committee Irina Konovalova and co-founder of the nongovernmental organization Anti-Torture Committee Parviz Deyistani. Konovalova’s house was searched, blanks, certificates, document samples, floppy disks with various seals, computer and scanner were confiscated.
Department to Combat Organized Crimes has launched criminal case on the fact, investigation is underway.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Anti-Torture Committee Elchin Behbudov told APA Parviz Dayistani was removed from the committee’s co-founding. He said he was removed because of his carelessness. “We sent relevant document to the Ministry of Justice about his removal from the co-founding”.
The human rights defender said Dayistani’s action had no relation with the Anti-Torture Committee. “He didn’t use the committee’s name. If he committed crime, he will be responsible before the law”.
