Conference on the theme “Modern teaching technologies” devoted to the implementation of the “State Program on informatization of education system in Azerbaijan Republic in 2008-2012” was held in Gulustan palace, APA reports.
Chairman of Education Ministry’s Department for informatization of education system Samir Mammadov said Data Center, which is unique in the region, has been established in within a year, about 200 schools have joined the center. By the end of 2009 300 more schools will join high-speed Internet. He said the first stage of establishing the education portal ended, various teaching resources will be placed in the portal. Azerbaijan Education Network has been established within the framework of the state program. The unique education network will make it available to provide the exchange of high-speed Internet among the educational establishments of the country.
Education Minister Misir Mardanov said all secondary schools of Azerbaijan are interested in information communication technologies, about 30,000 secondary school teachers were involved in trainings on technologies, about 100 trainers were qualified in the ministry. The Minister said there are 29 pupils per computer in the country, 15-17 pupils per computer in Baku.
Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov said Azerbaijan has become the leader in CIS in providing the education with information and communication technologies. Chairperson of humanitarian policy department of the President’s administration Fatma Abdullazadeh said pupils face shortage of Internet resources in Azerbaijani. “There is a need to form such resources. We should do our best for the pupils to learn foreign languages via Internet. Every pupil studying in Europe has an opportunity to learn several languages. Such opportunities should also be created for Azerbaijani pupils,” she said.
