Incaution and indifference by population have caused a number of forest fires in Azerbaijan recently.
Flora and human health have received great damage as a result, Azerbaijan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said in a statement.
The large and small scale fires occurred in new forest area near Alat-Hajigabul highway, territory of Khirdalan Forestry Office, Gilazi forests near Baku-Guba highway and Devechi recently. An employee of the ministry’s Forestry Development Department suffered from snakebite during the prevention of a fire and was hospitalized.
The ministry urged the people to be careful with a fire, to observe fire security rules and to protect the forests, which are the national resources of the Azerbaijani people.
