The meeting of high level group for interreligious dialogue under the aegis of UNESCO was held in the St. Daniel Monastery in Moscow.
UNESCO Director-General Koichiro Matsuura, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-Ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade and representatives Vatican, U.S., Saudi Arabia, Germany as well as international organizations attended the meeting.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko joined the event as well. The settlement of inter-religious conflicts, the prevention of religious defamation and the preservation of religious holy sites during armed conflicts were discussed at the meeting. Communiqué was adopted at the end.
