The chairperson of the Azerbaijani parliamentary committee does not rule out the possibility of establishing the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Central Asian countries.

"This proposal has been put forward by an official of Canada at the PA OSCE in Vilnius," Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Human Rights Committee Rabiyyat Aslanova said.

But Aslanova considers unreal to form it in a short period of time.

"It is necessary to hold enlarged discussions to realize this idea. But this is an interesting fact that this proposal has been put forward not by the Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, not by Azerbaijan, but by the Canadian parliamentarian. At the PA OSCE in Vilnius, the Canadian representative said his country is interested in cooperation with the Central Asian countries, as well as Azerbaijan. He said the PA of the Central Asian countries or the Forum of the Central Asian parliamentarians can be launched to begin this cooperation," the parliamentarian said.

She said it is reasonable to form such an organization to develop cooperation. "At the session, I also noted that Azerbaijan is ready to play a role of bridge in cooperation between Canada and Central Asia. Therefore, I want to say that it is real to establish such an organization in future," Aslanova said.
