A senior Iranian lawmaker has warned that the number of swine flu cases could hit 10 million in the country within the next two years, Press TV reported.

"At least one in every 200 unrecognized cases will die," Dr. Hossein-Ali Shahriari, the deputy head of the Majlis Health Committee said.

"Treatment of each patient suffering from the acute form of the flu will cost at least $30 and this means that Iran will have to spend tens of millions of dollars to control the disease within the coming years," Mehr news agency quoted Shahriari as saying.

The confirmed number of swine flu cases in Iran stands at 61, Mehr reported. No death due to the virus has been reported in the country so far.

As for July 14, A/H1N1 virus infection was confirmed in Iran and 200 people were suspected of the virus infection, IRNA reported.
