Azerbaijan's education minister is guaranteeing security for people in secondary schools and universities.
"All schools and universities will be protected by the state. We have established close relations with law-enforcement agencies. I hope we will not have any problems with security in the upcoming academic year," education minister Misir Mardanov told reporters.
Neither the state, nor the Education Ministry would want another tragedy to occur again in the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy, the Minister said.
"I assure parents that their children's security will be guaranteed by the state. Security measures will be taken in both state and private schools and universities," Mardanov said.
The minister did not disclose public funds allocated for security since there are 7,000 schools and universities in Azerbaijan.
An act of terrorism took place in the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy on April 30, 2009. A 29-year-old Georgian citizen Farda Gadirov shot 12 people and wounded 13.
