The first world media summit will be held in Beijing on Oct. 8-10.
It will bring together heads of famous world newspapers, magazines, information agencies, radio, television and Internet publications.
Representatives of the Chinese People's Republic's supreme leadership are expected to participate in the summit.
The initiative to hold the world media summit belongs to President of Xinhua agency Li Congjun, U.S media baron and chairman of News Corp. Rupert Murdoch, director general of Assosiated Press Tom Curley, editor-in-chief of Reuters David Schlesinger, director general of BBC Marc Thompson, director of Kyodo News Satoshi Ishikawa and president of ITAR-TASS Vitaly Ignatenko at the talks during summer Olympic Games in Beijing.
Over 130 foreign and 40 Chinese media outlets have been registered to participate in the summit. Trend news agency will represent Azerbaijan. This top-level meeting attracted attention worldwide.
President of Xinhua agency Li Congjun will make an address as executive chairman at the summit. U.S media baron and chairman of News Corp. Rupert Murdoch, director general of Assosiated Press Tom Curley, editor-in-chief of Reuters David Schlesinger, director of Kyodo News Satoshi Ishikawa, president of ITAR-TASS Vitaly Ignatenko, director of BBC Global News Richard Sambrook, president of Turner Broadcasting System's Asia Pacific Steve Marcopoto and deputy president of Google Global John Liu will make an address as co-chairmen.
The summit will be mainly devoted to the way of world media outlets meet the challenge of contemporaneity and earn as a result of network technologies.
Merger of global media outlets, their problems and opportunities in digital century, forming of future journalists, financial crisis and media outlets' response and their social responsibility are planned to be discussed during the summit.
