Iran has launched the 24th International "Tour of Azerbaijan" Bicycle Race, the second stage of the competition is underway, İRNA reported.
The contest involves 14 Iranian and foreign teams.
Organizer of the competition, which consists of six phases, is the Cycling Federation of Iran.
The first stage took place on Thursday on the Tabriz-Urmia (146 km) road, the second stage of the cycling race will take place today (Friday) on the Urmia-Shabustar (175 km) highway, the third stage - Oct. 17 on the Tabriz-Jolfa (129 km) road and the fourth stage will be held in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (99.6 km), the fifth stage in the Julfa -Kalibar (145 km), the sixth stage - Kalibar-Tabriz (173 km).
The Prize Fund of the cycle race is $50,000. The competition is international, and involves athletes from seven countries (Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uganda, Greece, Georgia and Afghanistan).
