19 October 2009 [14:54] - Today.Az
The population of the Mitsimi village in Georgia's Lagodekhi region has blocked traffic on the highway in the direction of Azerbaijan.
According the Kakhetia Center for Human Rights Protection, the locals have settled in the Lagodekhi customs, near the Georgian-Azerbaijani border.
Protesters call for solutions to the problems related to water supply to the village. They argue that 120,000 lari ($ 1 = 1.67 lari) has been allocated from the public budget to solve this problem, but the work was performed poorly and the problem of water supply has not been yet solved.
The head of the Lagodekhi municipality came to talk with the participants of the rally and asked to open the traffic, but the protesters refused.
To resolve the incident, patrol police have already been mobilized to restore traffic on the Georgia-Azerbaijan highway with the use of force.
