“Indeed, Azerbaijani society has reached that a level that one branch of power can not interfere with other’s affairs,”Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Public Affairs Department Chief Ali Hasanov said.

“Azerbaijan has integrated into European area and citizens unhappy with the court decisions can appeal the European Court of Human Rights,” Hasanov said speaking about a recent court decision on bloggers.

Hasanov said executive power has no authority to interfere with the court decisions.

“Protests by some international organizations and debates on this issue inside and outside Azerbaijan are impartial," he added.

“Dozens of court decisions on hooliganism charges are made in Azerbaijan every year. Why only these two young men cause such a reaction? Of course, they can say that these young men are bloggers with more intellect closer to the West. But there is no such paragraph in the Azerbaijani Criminal Code that who is more intellectual and closer to the West will receive less punishment,” Hasanov said.
