Azerbaijan will receive an observer status at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) from January 1 next year, according to press service of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents.
As a CEN member, the Committee will have an opportunity to bring national standards in line with European ones, and participate in the organization`s technical committees.
The membership will enable Azerbaijan to access the achievements of the EU`s technical regulation system and provide wide opportunities for the creation of a modern quality infrastructure in the country.
The European Committee for Standardization is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to foster the European economy in global trading, the welfare of European citizens and the environment by providing an efficient infrastructure to interested parties for the development, maintenance and distribution of coherent sets of standards and specifications.
It was founded in 1961.
