The Azerbaijani parliament's human rights committee received over 600 appeals in 2009.

Chair of the committee Rabiyyat Aslanova said each of the appeals had been considered and necessary steps were taken.

Aslanova said the appeals mainly account for complaints of the executive bodies, human rights, problems in civil service – citizen relations, demands without knowing rights, diseases requiring treatment abroad.

“We can listen only to one side concerning these complaints and problems. But we try to help solve their problems. Sometimes Azerbaijanis face difficulties as they do not know essence of laws. I would like the legal awareness to be improved in Azerbaijan,” she said.
