The Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population says job fairs held throughout the country have proved effective.
The ministry said job fairs were held in 57 cities and regions of the republic in 2009.
"Nearly 24,190 vacancies in 3,022 institutions were offered during these fairs. As a result, 8,132 unemployed citizens got jobs, 866 were attracted to preparatory courses and 419 people received paid social jobs," the ministry said.
The events under slogan “First move in career” were held for students and graduates of Baku, Ganja and Absheron region.
"As part of these events 470 institutions offered 2,351 vacancies. As a result, 431 persons were provided with jobs."
