Polish Ambassador Krzysztof Krajewski has praised tolerance in Azerbaijan during a talk with chief of the country's state committee for the work with religious associations Hidayat Orujov.
“The government has been doing great job to strengthen the protection of human freedoms and continue traditions of religious tolerance in the country,” said Krajewski.
Orujov praised Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev's role in preserving the values of tolerance and dialogue among religions within the Azerbaijani society.
“Late Heydar Aliyev ordered construction of a Catholic church in the center of Baku. There is great respect to all religions in Azerbaijan.”
Orujov also touched upon consequences of Armenia`s military aggression against Azerbaijan.
“Armenians destroyed all our cultural and religious monuments in Azerbaijan`s occupied territories. Today there is no Azerbaijani in Armenia and Azerbaijan`s occupied lands. But we have Armenians here in Azerbaijan and our government has ensured their security.”
Orujov called on the international community to “strongly condemn the Armenian vandalism” and “support Azerbaijan`s just cause”.
