Turkey will start exploration in the area where Kars- Igdir-Nakhchivan railway will be laid, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport said.

According to the ministry, a tender has been opened to select a company that will carry out geological work in the territory.

Hopefully, the Kars-Igdir-Nakhchivan railway will be launched in near future. "The road, which will be a continuation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, will provide communication between the Autonomous Republic and Azerbaijan,” he said.

Railway with length of 7 km will be laid in Nakhchivan to connect Turkey with the Autonomous Republic.

“As soon as Azerbaijan’s occupied lands are liberated, Baku-Nakhchivan railway will be restored. Thus, Nakhchivan will be one of the major transportation hubs in the region,” Mammadov said.

He noted that work construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars continues on schedule. Draft of the Akhalkalaki station has already been approved and reconstruction of the road in Georgia has started.
