A new global campaign "Mention friend for the sake of justice" will start on a Facebook page of "Justice for Khojaly" campaign on October 2, the OIC Youth Forum Baku office said in an official press statement, Trend reports.
The international information and propaganda campaign "Justice for Khojaly", declared on the initiative of the General Coordinator of the OIC Youth Foundation on Intercultural Dialogue of Islamic Conference Youth Forum, the OIC member, Leyla Aliyeva, started on May 8, 2008.
"Mention friend for the sake of justice" is aimed at the dissemination of accurate information about the Khojaly genocide in the world, particularly among 500 million Facebook users worldwide.
Each user, marking his friends at the added photographs, will financially support the campaign "Save Darfur" in the first phase of the campaign, called "Mention friend, save Darfur" through an account opened on Facebook.
Military actions in Darfur province of western Sudan have been held since February 2003. The numerous groups who seek to overthrow the regime of President Omar al-Bashir resist Sudanese governmental troops and their supporters. According to the UN, more than 300,000 people were killed as a result of the conflict in Darfur. Sudanese authorities claim that the conflict has killed about 10,000 people.
As a result, a significant part of the world community will be informed about the Khojaly tragedy. Ordinary people will be able to provide the victims of Darfur's events with financial assistance through "Justice for Khodjaly" campaign.
Armenian military forces committed genocide acts in the town of Khojali, Azerbaijan, with the population of 7,000 people on Feb. 26 1992. There were 3,000 people in the town at the time of Armenian military forces' attack. Most part of the population had to leave town during four months blockade. Over 613 people were killed, 1,000 peaceful people of different age became invalid during Khojali genocide. Roughly 106 women, 63 children, 70 old men were killed. About 8 families were completely annihilated, 130 children lost one parents, while 25 both of them. Over 1,275 peace residents were taken hostages, while the fate of 150 of them is still unknown.
More than 50 countries carried out the events within "Justice for Khojaly" campaign over the last two years. The documents have been adopted at the meetings of the OIC Parliamentary Union in Kampala (Uganda) and the Foreign Ministries of the OIC countries in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) this year at the OIC Youth Foundation's initiative, coordinating the activity of the campaign.
The Khojaly massacre is considered as a "crime against humanity" there. Currently, an international campaign of collecting signatures for a petition calling on the world community to properly assess the Khojaly genocide is being held within the campaign.
