National Monitoring Department at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has conducted regular monitoring into pollution of transboundary Kura and Araz rivers.

According to the monitoring results, in the third decade of September, the water flow in Kura River increased by 4 m3/sec and reached 117 m3/sec. Water levels were 3.21 m3/sec. in cross-border Araz River.

In locations where the river is subjected to transboundary pollution in Georgia and Armenia, phenol and copper compounds, which are specific pollutants in the water, exceed the allowed rate. Oxygen regime of water at all locations varied on the level of sanitation – 5.35-6.80 mag / liter.
