Some forces try to violate the religious stability in Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations chairman Hidayat Orujov said today at a press conference at the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's headquarters.

"Those who try to violate the religious stability in Azerbaijan serve to some foreign countries' intelligence services' interests and act based on their instructions. These forces try to use political, individual interests of certain groups for their goals," Orujov said.

He said a number of these forces is insignificant.

He said among them there are forces introducing themselves as adherents of the Islamic and non-Islamic religion.

"Those who try to violate the religious stability in Azerbaijan serve to some foreign countries' intelligence services' interests and act based on their instructions. These forces try to use political, individual interests of certain groups for their goals," Orujov said.

"Our society and government is implacable to these forces. The religious stability in Azerbaijan, ensuring freedom of people's religious belief, even greater enhancement of a tolerant environment in Azerbaijan is of interest not only in the region, but throughout the world. The works done in this area by Azerbaijan is evaluated positively in the world," Orujov said.

Orujev also said some religious communities are not interested in re-registration.

So far, registration of 24 religious communities has been refused. Some 15 of them are Islamic communities, nine are non-Islamic communities.
