Today, the body of Azerbaijani pilgrim Intigam Rustamov died in bus explosion in Iraq will be sent to Baku, witness of the blast occured in Iraq Jeyhun Hajiyev said. Condition of three persons wounded during the incident is satisfactory. Hajiyev spoke about the details of the incident.
“54 Azerbaijani pilgrims have arrived in Iraq. Deceased Intigam Rustamov headed the group. Most of them were in a big bus, other 9 were in Hyundai microbus. Intigam and I were also in that Hyundai. The blast occurred in our microbus. But I do not remember the moment of explosion, because it happened suddenly. I know only that 3 people were wounded. We took them to hospital immediately. Rustamov was also hospitalized. He did not receive wounds, he was in shock. It was impossible to save him”.
Speaking about unknown offenders of the explosion, Hajiyev said that other pilgrims continued their pilgrimage. “Currently, 50 pilgrims are continuing their pilgrimage. If condition of the wounded improves, they will join us as well. The body of Intigam Rustamov will be sent to Baku today”.
Hajiyev noted that the group would return to the country after the pilgrimage. Moreover, he said that Rustamov was resident of Nardaran and other wounded were residents of Baku city.
Note that, the incident was recorded on October 13, at about 10.00 in Diala province of Iraq - in the territory of Kurdish people. Our compatriots Intigam Rustamov died, Elvin Aslanov, Abdullayev Elchin Tahir, Abdullayev Elchin Vahid were wounded. Elvin Aslanov who received wound in the foot was taken to Baghdad and operated there. Azerbaijani embassy in Iraq keeps the condition of our compatriots under control.
The Foreign Ministry once more called Azerbaijani citizens from visit to Iraq.
