Landslip took place in southern Lerik region of Azerbaijan on October 28.

The landslip was recorded in Bursulum village of the region. According to the local residents, though the landslip began on September 15, the recent rain intensified the process. 1500 people live in Bursulum that consists of 8 villages. Approximately 5ha area has undergone a landslip. According to the local residents, if the landslip intensifies, some 15 houses may be damaged. There are cracks in three houses already.

Deputy head of Lerik executive power, chairman of the region’s emergency situations commission Habil Malikov told APA that the region’s administration is aware of the situation in Bursulum village. He said the area was examined with the participation of the experts of Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry and Ministry of Emergency Situations. The Cabinet has also been informed about the situation. Malikov said the landslip is still passive, but did not rule out intensification of the process in case of rainy weather.
