87th anniversary of Turkish Republic was celebrated in Baku on Friday. According to APA, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kiic, embassy officials and defense attaché, as well as Turkish business people working in Azerbaijan visited Baku Turkish Martyrdom.
They laid a wreath before the monument erected in memory of Turkish soldiers killed in the battles for liberation of Baku in 1918 and signed Book of Martyrdom. Then they visited Azerbaijani martyrs’ graves at the Alley of Martyrs and laid a wreath before the monument of Eternal Flame.
Ambassador Hulusi Kilic told journalists that Turkey is a powerful country of the region today and its economy is 17th in the world. “Today Turkey is a regional power and has second largest and powerful army of NATO. We are trying to solve the problems in the region”.
The ambassador called interests of Azerbaijan as the interests of Turkey and said Ankara supports all efforts for peace in the region.
