400 more ammunitions were found during the search operations near the TV tower in Baku’s Sabail district on Friday, ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action) expert Parviz Gidayev told APA.
Gidayev said ANAMA received information about the unexploded ammunitions on November 10 and 170 ammunitions were taken to ANAMA’s training arena in Guzdek for neutralization.
“Mine-clearance operations are continued in the area”, said Gidayev.
The experts said the ammunitions were left by unknown people in recent time and were thrown about by rains and a part of ammunitions remained underground. The ammunitions are supposed to be brought there not in early 1990, but later. ANAMA experts said mostly anti-tank projectiles and NURS helicopter-launching missiles were found there.

Over 1,700 unexploded ordinances that were found near the TV tower in Baku have been removed, employee of the Azerbaijani National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has told Trend on Friday. The unexploded ordinances have been taken to the special polygon in the Guzdak settlement and they will be utilized, the employee said.
"The most of the unexploded ordinances are 22mm-armor-piercing tank shells. Rains spread the shells to 350-500 square meters as the area is down grade. Presently, the agency's 20 employees work at the scene," he said.
He said about 100 unexploded ordinances still are in the area. They are non-useless nut threat the life of people. Over 1,000 unexploded ordinances were revealed near the TV tower in Baku on Nov.10. Prsently, an operative group consisting of employees of the ANAMA and the Emergency Situations Ministry are working on the scene to clean the area.

Over 1,000 ammunition have been found near the TV tower in Baku, said ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action) Director Nazim Ismayilov. Ismayilov said the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed ANAMA about that on Wednesday.
“14-member operation group and experts of the relevant organizations are working at site now. Some of the ammunitions have warheads. There are ammunitions of different calibers, as well as NURS missiles launched from the helicopters among the ammunitions were found there”.
Reportedly, 125mm armor piercing ammunition were found at the site, according to the report of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Currently, the area around the tower is not set up with checkpoints and protection fenses, in order to ensure public safety.
The ANAMA director said investigation would be conducted for a week and some of the ammunitions would be exploded in ANAMA polygon and some would be defused at the site.
