Fikret Mammadov, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Judicial-Legal Council, Minister of Justice, met with newly appointed chairmen of the courts.
During the meeting, the role of reforms on improving the efficiency of justice, establishing new regional heinous crimes courts, and economic-administrative courts was stressed.
Improving the military judicial system and developing judicial activity were also stressed.
The meeting stressed the tasks assigned to the new courts in the area of reliable protection of human rights, the high responsibility of chairman of courts in this case, the necessity of eliminating deficiencies and defects that cause a fair dissatisfaction of citizens. The specific tasks were determined.
The newly appointed chairmen of courts declared their readiness to show decisiveness in the work, be preserving the high reputation of the judges and the rule of law.
Ramiz Rzayev, chairman of the Supreme Court, attended the meeting.
Chairmen of the newly established regional heinous crimes courts and administrative-economic courts were appointed upon the decree of the Azerbaijani President on Dec. 13, 2010.
New courts will begin to operate from January 1, 2011.
