In the area of "Peschani" Cape in Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, employees of the Ural-Caspian Basin Interregional Inspectorate have detained the ship "TCP ¹ 102" with 9 poachers from Azerbaijan together with border guards. Poachers have caused damage worth more than $3 million tenge to fish resources of Kazakhstan, according to Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry.
"Inspection on board of the vessel revealed sturgeon species in the amount of 164 pieces weighing 467 kg, fine-mesh fish species (sprat) - 14 boxes and 40 boxes of rope with hooks which is a prohibited fishing gear,” the ministry statement said.
The detained vessel was delivered to Kuryk village in Mangistau region. The poachers are protected by border patrol of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan. A criminal case has been launched.
