As many as 6,989 fire accidents took place in Azerbaijan last year, according to the website of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The incidents killed 54 people, injured 117.
Seventeen persons were saved as a result of the rescue operations. Moreover, last year, 26 blasts occurred in private and multistoried residential buildings, auxiliary buildings and technological installations. 4 persons died in those incidents and 43 received different wounds.
Last year, 540 rescue operations were carried out by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Those operations were related to rendering harmless of 18 UXOs.
