Azerbaijan has prevented an attempt to smuggle drugs inside onions into a prison.
Two packets of 0.45 grams of marijuana and 1.028 grams of heroin were found inside onions being brought into a prison by prisoner Elchin Nasirli's relative, Baku resident Ayaz Allahverdiyev, in the Gobustan settlement on Tuesday, the Justice Ministry's Prison Service PR Department said.
The fact is under investigation.
Nasirli is serving a sentence for the illegal purchase and storage of narcotics. He was sentenced to 4.5 year imprisonment.
