Czech Minister of Culture Jiří Besser will attend the World Forum for "Intercultural Dialogue" to be held in Baku on April 7-9 within a small Czech delegation, Czech Ambassador to Baku Radek Matula told Trend.

At present, the details of the visit are under consideration, he said. Besides the main purpose of the visit to participate in the forum, it is also planned to organize a meeting between Besser and Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev.

The purpose of this meeting will be the establishment and further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in the field of culture, he said.

He said that the two countries are already working in the field of a cultural dialogue. The appropriate contacts were established in this area.

Diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan were established in 1993.

The embassy of the Czech Republic has been operating in Baku since December 2009. Two years earlier, the Azerbaijani embassy began to operate in Prague.

The countries develop current bilateral relations in many areas, including a political dialogue, economic cooperation, education, tourism and culture.

Azerbaijan is the largest trading partner of the Czech Republic in the South Caucasus. The turnover is increasing every year. It hit $38 million in 2010. Roughly $37.78 million fall to the share of imports of Czech goods, $0,23 million - the share of export of Azerbaijani goods to the Czech Republic.
