The Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Ministry held a meeting today to discuss issues related to a recent statement made by President Ilham Aliyev at a conference on outcomes of the second year of the state program on regional socioeconomic development.
Labor and Social Protection Minister Fizuli Alakbarov tasked state officials with increasing transparency over the payment of social assistance, medical and social assessments, as well as providing jobs to the unemployed and enforcing labor laws.
Alakbarov said harsh measures must be taken against corrupted officials, and act irresponsibly and disrespectfully toward citizens.
He also provided clear instructions on how to develop social assistance payment cards to esnure a corruption-free system, as well as how to report and identify legal violations.
The meeting also stressed the need to intensify measures to increase employment, ensure the signing of contracts in the workplace, improve control over the identification of illegal labor activities, and strengthen cooperation with employers.
Alakbarov also underscored the need to improve activities of the ministry’s hot line (142).
