Visiting Washington Elmar Rustamov, chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan met with members of the Azerbaijani community and students studying in USA.

Rustamov underlined the importance of the increasing number of Azerbaijanis working and studying in the US in terms of the country`s better representation abroad.

He pointed out adoption of the Azerbaijani youth study abroad program and increasing education spending are the evidence of President Ilham Aliyev's attention to the education sector.

Rustamov lingered around the situation of the national economy amidst the global crisis, preventive measures to fight the crisis and new strategic challenges in economic development.

The meeting was attended by Azeri Ambassador to the US Yashar Aliyev and Executive Director of the State Oil Fund Shahmar Movsumov.
