Measures to protect the remains discovered at the Guba burial site from environmental factors will be completed within six months, General Director of the Health Ministry’s Forensic and Pathology Association, Professor Shakir Musayev said.
A working group of experts from the association’s medical and forensic departments has been formed, he added.
The working group has held a series of measures to protect the remains from environmental factors since April 10, 2007 upon the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.
First of all, the number of detected bones (7,432 bones) was revealed. Their condition was examined. The destruction of the remains was prevented due to environmental factors. The necessary reagents were also purchased.
During the final stage, 7,432 bones and fragments were deposited in special solutions. The bones have to be treated several times every couple months over 14-18 months.
"The process will be completed over the next six months," Musayev said.
The comprehensive study of the bones is a decisive factor in the study of the Azerbaijani genocide, he said.
