The Azerbaijani Press Council and the U.S. Embassy are organizing a presentation of a book-guide titled "Media right". The agreement was reached at a meeting on Tuesday of the Press Council head Aflatun Amashov with the U.S. Embassy Spokesman Keith Bean, the Press Council said.

Bean said that the author of the book is Jane Kirtley, professor at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota. The book is published through The Department of State's Bureau of International Information Programs.

Amashov said that the main problem of the country's media outlets is difficulty with funding. He said that despite several measures taken to address this problem, further efforts should be taken in this regard. He said the council intends to apply the international experience in an ad-placement and by promoting official structures throughout media outlets.

Amashov touched upon the issue of covering mass actions in the media outlets. He said the creation of the necessary conditions for the media representatives was also discussed with law enforcement agencies. Amashov stressed that journalists putting on a jacket with the logo "press" have every right to cover both sanctioned and unsanctioned rallies.
